All the DLC and extra content that was announced for Battlefront 2 is in limbo and EA couldnt care less. He either knows little to nothing about either subject but still has to do the best he can. Its like having a guy who can only write stories pick up the slack as an artist or animator for a big project. Theres even been talk that all the developers have been moved away from working on content for Battlefront 2 and they havent been told when they can go back to it and rumor has it that its only 2 people currently working on the game and they are out of depth with the workload as well as the type of work they need to go through.

Battlefront 2 was a complete non issue for them as they still made enough money back off it to not even care. I recently heard that when EA hosted a meeting for their investors where they talk about where their money is going and EA's plans to make more money etc etc etc Battlefront 2 was probably mentioned once if at all before they moved onto other topics. Its about making money ontop of more money on top of more money because all the money in the world isnt enough right? Im sure part of the issue is because EA has become so much about making money rather than selling great experiences that it has sold its soul to shareholders and investors. I don't want another ME: Andromeda, because it was identity politics covered in a veneer of SF (politics is the driver, while SF is an atmospheric taint). I'm looking forward to CD Projekt Red, and hopefully seeing political intrigue and fun addressed well in a SF setting (SF develops the plot, and politics gives the atmosphere). None of this even mentions that nobody dies in Splatoon. You can see how application of the same logic elsewhere leads to less than thrilling conclusions. Heck, by the same logic all shooters are murder simulators. It's like saying The Big Bang Theory is a sitcom so all the jokes must be funny. Just because they can doesn't mean they do. Science fiction often couches politics in situations, to mirror modern issues. Likewise, there are games devoid of politics like Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. There are games based upon politics, like Mass Effect: Andromeda. If you want to read politics into things then you can.

To that end, I haven't bought EA since Crysis 2 came out, and forgot what made the franchise good (in favor of a 40% story and 8 hours of play).Īs far as science fiction requiring politics, I call shenanigans. Mass Effect 2 is still in my craw, for introducing the fee to unlock features in used games. Was EA ever really about the games? I ask, because they've been at the helm of anti-consumer BS forever.
